The Route

Ferries depart from Furna, the only port on Brava, located at the bottom of a dramatic valley on the eastern coast. The vessel crosses to São Filipe on the western coast of Fogo. Despite the short distance, the channel between the two islands can produce choppy seas.

How Long Does the Crossing Take?

The journey from Brava to Fogo takes approximately 1 hour.

The Vessel

The crossing is operated by the Kriola, the CV Interilhas vessel that serves the Linha Sotavento route. The same ship connects Fogo onward to Praia on Santiago island.

How Often Do Ferries Run?

The Brava to Fogo service runs several times per week as part of the Linha Sotavento circuit. It does not operate daily. Always check the current schedule on Ondas before heading to the port.

Connecting Onward to Praia

From São Filipe on Fogo, you can continue to Praia on Santiago. On some days the Kriola sails from Fogo to Praia on the same day it arrives from Brava. On other days you may need to overnight in São Filipe. Check both legs on Ondas to plan your connection.
